Shop by engine family

The letters at the start of your model number tell you the family: CV is a Command PRO with a vertical shaft, KT is 7000 Series, ZT is Confidant. Pick yours to see complete engines. Service parts are in the categories further down.

Find your Kohler model, spec and serial number

Every Kohler engine has an identification decal, usually on the blower housing (the sheet-metal shroud over the flywheel) or on the valve cover. It lists three numbers. The spec number is the one that matters.

  1. Model number, e.g. CV742. The letters are the family (CV = Command PRO vertical shaft, CH = horizontal, ECV/ECH = EFI, KT = 7000 Series, ZT = Confidant, SV/SH = Courage). The digits are the size.
  2. Spec number, e.g. CV742-3051. This is the exact build: shaft, carburetion, air cleaner, starter and the equipment maker it was built for. Order complete engines and most parts by it. Engines sold for service often carry a PA- prefix (PA-CV742-3051 is spec CV742-3051).
  3. Serial number, which records when and where the engine was built. Some parts changed mid-production, so we may ask for it to confirm fit.

Can't read the decal? Send us a photo of it, plus your equipment's make and model, and we'll identify the engine for you.

Kohler questions we get every week

Is Rehlko the same as Kohler engines?

Yes. Kohler's engine and power business became a stand-alone company in 2024 and was renamed Rehlko. The engines and parts keep the same part numbers, and boxes and decals may say Kohler, Rehlko or both. We list them under both names.

How do I find the right part for my Kohler engine?

Start with the spec number on the engine's identification decal, for example CV742-3051. Search it at the top of this page, or send us the model, spec and serial and we'll confirm the part before it ships.

My engine's spec number has been retired. Can I still replace it?

Usually, yes. Kohler replaces retired specs with current builds made to fit the same equipment. Use our repower quote form and we'll tell you which engine replaces yours and whether anything changes in the install.

Are your Kohler parts genuine?

Yes. Our Kohler and Rehlko engines and service parts are genuine, not aftermarket copies. Aftermarket alternatives from other brands are listed under their own brand names.

What's the difference between Command PRO and Command PRO EFI?

They're the same family. EFI models (model numbers starting ECV or ECH) use electronic fuel injection instead of a carburetor, so their fuel-system parts are different. Always order by the full spec number.

How fast do Kohler parts ship?

Each product page shows availability. At checkout, choose Standard (7–11 business days) or Expedited (3–7 business days). Or pick Need It Fast and we'll call you with faster options.

Do you offer pricing for shops and fleets?

Yes. Pro accounts get net terms and volume pricing on Kohler engines and parts.
