Hydro-Gear 52114 is a genuine Hydro-Gear spin-on transmission oil filter. It is the external filter Hydro-Gear specifies for its ZT-2800, ZT-3100, ZT-3200, ZT-3400, ZT-3600 and ZT-3800 transaxles and the G700, rated 25 micron nominal / 40 micron absolute.

Order by part number 52114. Check that your transaxle model is one of the units above — the ZT-4400 and ZT-5400 use different filters.

Service notes

• Change the filter with the oil: first at 75–100 hours, then every 400 hours (ZT-2800 to ZT-3800 and G700 manuals).
• To install, hand-tighten, then turn 3/4 to 1 full turn after the gasket contacts the base (110–130 lb-in per the ZT-3400/3600/3800 manual). Remove with a socket-style filter wrench, not a strap wrench.
• Let units with an internal expansion tank cool below 100°F before draining.
• After an oil and filter change, purge air from the system following Hydro-Gear's procedure: wheels off the ground, cycle forward/reverse 5–6 times with the bypass open, then 5–6 times closed, and top up the oil.
